DARTMOOR 2 DAY TRIAL
Sept 13/14th 2025

SATURDAY
To compliment the ever popular Dartmoor 2 Day solo trial for Classic Pre65 and Twinshock solo machines, now in its 37th year the West of England MC invited a small sidecar entry to enjoy the event. Run using two separate courses this enabled the entry to be divided, with the three-wheelers using the aptly named Paradise on the Saturday. Twenty subs had been marked out and attempted twice, as this was a conducted trial with ever enthusiastic club chairman Andy Cheeseman very much at the helm, the competitors travelled around the course together which worked well. Daryl and Hannah Dale led the way and rode to a near faultless ride around the entire course, to add to their challenge they were encouraged to attempt some sections via slightly harder lines (mainly by Dad Peter in a vain attempt to pry some marks from the expert pairing). Section nine was their only undoing as the seemingly impossible line proved thus and this resulted in a maximum score, section 13 took a solitary dab . Riding with stand in passenger (again!!) Darren Lulham and nephew Oakley Lulham put in a super steady ride to finish runners up on 11 marks lost, with a superb demonstration of delicate throttle control easily got the better of Peter Dale who persuaded Graham Tickner to travel down from Surrey to jump into his newly built chair. A bit more practice required to tame the newer “factory” Beta methinks. Completing the entry was young George Lulham riding for the first time alongside girlfriend Lexi Lawrence-O`Shea. After a couple of years passengering for Peter this was his debut holding onto the handlebars, and at the end of the day progress was being made.
SUNDAY
After the dryish day on saturday the weather gods sent the rain for Sunday. Although everyone set off in full wet weather gear this wasn`t needed until halfway round the lap, once again 20 subs had been plotted and ridden twice this time in the neighbouring venue of the Grove. The innocent looking 1st sub proved to be anything but and proved to be a stopper for all with the exception of Daryl and Hannah who after being penalised for a roll-back on their first attempt got their act together and pulled off a stunning clean 2nd time of asking. The hardworking team of Andy Cheeseman and Paul Collins set out a challenging course in the wooded valley and made good use of the Devon streams which proved to be a hit for all riders. Once again Darren and Oakley proved to good for Peter and Graham, (having blamed the bike yesterday no excuses today lol). The flowing sections really suiting Darrens smooth riding . Coming on in leaps and bounds.,George and Lexi outrode their experience levels and put in some excellent rides.
Many thanks to the West of England club for allowing us to come and invade your event and hopefully we can return in 2026. Special thanks to Andy for his support

Southend DMCC
30th December 2025 Poles Wood
Great to see sidecars out to support this Eastern Centre Sidecar Championship Trial. Four outfits headed to Essex to contest this 10 section ,4 lap event. Visiting Husband and Wife duo Daryl /Hannah Dale made the trip up from Sussex worthwhile taking a deserving win over father and son team, Rob / Stanley Head. Section 1 and 8 were the only hazards to trouble the top pairing who fived both these sections on their last attempt, a further dab in section 6 brought their final score to 11 marks lost. The battle royal was for the runnerup spot, and despite an outstanding performance in the troublesome section 1 with a single mark loss for the 4 attempts Jake Pope/Harvey Allaway were to lose out to Rob and Stanley on a most cleans decision. Both losing 45 marks. A tougher day for Surrey invaders Luke/ Woody Reynolds who lost a battling 110 An enjoyable event was had by all. Many thanks to Paul Nash and the Southend DMCC crew and as always the valiant observers who appeared glad to see the sidecars.

HISTORIC EVENT
A warm and sunny day greeted this years entrants to the historic Southern Experts Trial (Sidecar edition) once again hosted by Normandy mcc on behalf on the Sunbeam MC. this year at the notoriously slippery venue Sethern @ Dunsfold Surrey after last years event at nearby Hook Wood trials centre, heavy rain during the previous weeks made the going soft and sections had been planned with this in mind. Unexpectingly the ground dried quickly and provided a fairly easy day for the top riders but sections 3 and 12 proved challenging enough for all riders on each of the three laps. Excelling in the gripless conditions Neil and Michael Franks made history by claiming the first major victory for an electric sidecar taking a comfortable win over Jake Pope and Harvey Allaway on the petrol powered Sherco, National intermediate champion Toby Smith recruited brother Jamie into the chair and put in a sterling performance to take third on the day, a sign of things to come in 2026. Pre trial favourites Daryl and Hannah Dale suffered a unexpected tumble on section three causing mechanical damage to their recently updated GasGas machine calling an end of the day for the local crew. Also suffering machine issues Paul Fishlock ,along with new passenger Hannah Moore , retired after the first lap. Despite the high retirement rate all competitors enjoyed a well plotted course set out by Paul Fishlock and gang.
